09.12.2022 - Berlin based indie pop band “Bird Dreams” unveils unexpected dancey new single and music video  “Winter Chills”

Latest release

The songwriting duo came up with “Winter Chills'' by playing chords on synth strings instead of a guitar, as they would normally do (Laura said the sound of the synth part was inspired by Bjork’s “Joga”). This opened the door for the song to take a more dancey direction, making it the only band’s track to date that doesn’t involve any guitars. The only acoustic instrument is Pier Ciaccio’s drums kit; the latter also plays throughout the upcoming EP. “Winter Chills” was co-produced by a fellow Berlin-based Ukrainian musician, Igor Osypov.

“Winter Chills” has a smooth opening and the theme is already clear: December, snow, freezing, contrasted by the feeling of  “melting inside”, “fever” and by the warm vocals; the chorus is moving faster and you almost want to dance and let yourself go, but then a doubt comes over you: “Do I want it? Before it smashes into pieces that we can’t collect”. This hesitation goes along through the song, until we reach the emotional outro about time that goes by: “Another year gone, won’t we be ready to love each other?”

"Winter Chills" is inspired by the first cold months Laura (the lead singer) lived in Berlin. This song describes the feelings you experience when you first get to know a person you know could become important to you; to enter a new world, a little dark, even cold perhaps; to wonder if it's worth getting lost in it. But if this desire is so strong, if we're "melting inside", what alternative do we have but to try? We don't have infinite time.
